Weekend Discussion: Backup Strategies
submitted by GottaBeMobile 118 days ago (via feeds.feedburner.com)
There are a myriad of backup strategies out there ranging from syncing to a drive, syncing to another computer, storing on the cloud ( xDrive, etc), imaging,  copy / paste to an external drive, to using the built-in backup in XP and Vista, and more. What do you use and why? What have you had the most success with? What would you recommend people avoid? Originally Posted On GottaBeMob

Apple looking to put handwriting recognition into the iPhone?
submitted by Engadget 118 days ago (via engadget.com)
Filed under: Cellphones, Tablet PCs We know Apple's had its Inkwell handwriting recognition software in OS X for years now, so we might have otherwise just totally glossed over this Handwriting Recognition Engineer job listing on Apple's site. Except for the part that reads: "The recognition technology you create may extend beyond Mac OS X to other applications and the iPhone." They always love to

Do the rising costs of living on Long Island have young people thinking about moving to another part of the country? You bet they do. The economy is showing 2008 to be one of the toughest years Long Island has seen in a very long time, local economists say, and the outlook is not getting any better for the year ahead

Will We See Windows 7 At All Things Digital Conference?
submitted by GottaBeMobile 62 days ago (via feeds.feedburner.com)
Long Zheng of istartedsomething thinks we might hear and/or see the first public info about Windows 7 at D6: The All Things Digital Conference on May 27. On the scale of rumors, I’m not sure if this rates up there with Apple Tablet rumors in terms of accuracy or speculation, but this is from a source and there isn’t any confirmation anywhere else, so keep that in mind. One thing is for

Surface Videos with Andy Wilson
submitted by GottaBeMobile 62 days ago (via feeds.feedburner.com)
We got to see some of this in Redmond earlier this year, and now Robert Scoble has some video of of some of the Surface technology being explained by Andy Wilson. There are three videos and make sure you check out the third one where you can see Surface interacting with physical objects above the screen. When the car comes off the screen onto his hand it is really jaw droapping. Amazing stu

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things
submitted by GottaBeMobile 132 days ago (via feeds.feedburner.com)
Well, it has been quite a day here at GottaBeMobile.com. Our blogging software, DasBlog, choked big time and the site went down. The server was responding fine, as evidenced by the GBM Forums staying up, so we were able to identify that DasBlog was the culprit. Rob spent the day diligently working, trying to figure out what the issues were, with not much luck. Up until a few minutes ago, we

No Touch Screens in ULCPCs
submitted by GottaBeMobile 75 days ago (via feeds.feedburner.com)
Interesting reading from PC World / IDG News on Microsoft's ULCPC program, and their decision to exclude touch screens from the ULCPC effort. It is quite puzzling to me why Microsoft would exclude touch screens from the ULCPC area. JKKMobile offers up his own commentary. Here is a snippet from PC World. Microsoft is launching a program to promote the use of its Windows OS in ultra low-cost PCs, o
